Dr. Kingsley I own a company that specializes in removing dust from high ceilings. I recently received an inquiry from a company that produces vinegar that is used for cooking. My market has been primarily residential, but I do have an occasional request on the commercial side. My means of removing the dust is the use of a high-powered vacuum that is designed for removal of non-combustible dust. I am very aware of the dangers of removing grain without the use of an anti-static vacuum. My understanding is that the production of vinegar uses very little amounts of grain in the production of vinegar. I inspected the areas of the plant that they would like the dust removed from atop large holding silos throughout their plant. The active ingredients in vinegar are acetic acid, ammonium, potassium phosphates, magnesium sulfate, yeast, potassium sulfate, tricalcium phosphate and mineral salt. Water and acetic acid comprise of over 90% of the production of vinegar. Is the production of vinegar and its contents pose of risk of dust explosion? If it is necessary to have an anti-static vacuum for dust removal in this type of environment, I will need to consider taking on this project. Thank you in advance for your consideration. M.R.

I need the NFPA dust hazard analysis standards for ordinary manufacturing (tires specifically). Not food/agriculture. Where would I find this? And in the industry what is the limit that combustible dust can be measured at on surfaces?
